This is a true example of how our volunteers are true angels, and how Meals on Wheels is more than just a delivered meal:
A daughter-in-law called us today to thank two of our volunteers who recognized something was off when they delivered Meals on Wheels to her mother-in-law. The volunteers suspected that the client had suffered a stroke and called 911. And they were correct, the client did in fact have a small stroke and will be staying in the hospital for a few days and then onto rehab. The family was so grateful that the volunteers and our staff moved quickly to get help for their loved one.
Volunteers and BFF’s Kate and Sherri did a great job spotting the signs of a stroke, calling 911, and staying with the client until help arrived.
Meals on Wheels IS more than just a delivered meal.
